This is my first safety razor and I am not fully converted from my Billie razor. I had put off trying one as I was a wee bit nervous about how to use it properly. This razor is super easy to use, clean, and store. Not to mention the money saved in the long run and the absence of plastic waste! I got the shorter handle (because it is cheaper haha) and it works great for my needs. It has a nice weight to it and the textured handle helps with grip when it is wet and soapy. If you've been thinking about switching, do it! its as simple as watching a quick YouTube video and then you are off to smooth skin. I also have always gotten irritation, ingrown hairs, and razor bumps on my legs with a multi blade razor heads. But not with the safety razor, so far so good! I'm very happy as this was the main reason I bought it aside from low waste. (does come with 2 packs of blade refills, only one is pictured in review)
i found the razor blade goes dull after only two uses shaving my legs, the third use it would not shave anything. but i am used to disposable razors with like 4 blades, so that could be it, one blade is doing the work of four so it's expected. it has a good weight to it, simple to replace blades and to clean after use. be aware that you can bulk purchase a 100 pack of razor blade refills for $6 elsewhere rather than the zero waste refills in which 30 blades (the 6 pack of 5 blade packs) are best case scenario $10 via subscription.
Bought short handle version and I really love both the size and the weight of this razor. I do have experience with using a straight razor but my previous one (totally different brand) not only rusted but also only accepted blades made by that company. this is a much better replacement with the universal blade size and the textured grip of the handle. I appreciate having to slow down a bit and as long as you let the razor do the work, instead of pressure , its the smoothest shave you can get that also seems to last longer.
Will take some getting used to from other razors, but it seems to work well and I like the sustainability!
